Description

Developed and Conducted by Educational Testing Service (ETS)-a subsidiary of the Graduate Record Examination Board of the U.S.A, the Graduate Record Examination(GRE) is a common prerequisite for all Graduate School applicants. The scores of this standardized, computer adaptive format test helps graduate schools to assess the advanced study potential of their prospective students. GRE test scores are used by admissions or fellowship panels to supplement undergraduate records and other qualifications for graduate study. The scores provide common measures for comparing the qualifications of applicants and aid in evaluating grades and recommendations. ETS can send your GRE scores to four universities chosen by you. GRE scores are valid for 5 years. GRE offers two kinds of Examinations to enable admissions panel to assess the applicants and their aptitude towards their chosen fields of study - GRE General Test and GRE Subject Test. Most applicants to Graduate Schools are generally asked to take the GRE General test.

Students those wants to continue their studies in Abroad they should give this exam.

The GRE Test or the revised General Test features a flexible, test-taker friendly design that lets you use more of your own personal test-taking style and strategies:

The GRE Test will give you:

? Preview and review capabilities within a section
? “Mark and review" feature to tag questions, so you can skip and return later within a section
? Ability to change/edit answers within a section
? On-screen calculator for the Quantitative Reasoning section*

National level exam

The graduate students can take GRE test while taking the exam dates from nearest center. Even undergraduates in their final and pre-final years are reported taking tests since the validity of the scores lasts for 5 straight years. In order to have better impact and also for better universities scores latest by last two years are mainly taken into account.

GRE General Test :  Generally taken by prospective graduate students, this test measures Verbal reasoning, Analytical and Critical Writing and Quantitative Reasoning skills of a candidate.

GRE Subject test : This version of GRE exam assesses candidates' knowledge level and accomplishments in a specific field of study. Unlike the GRE General test, this test is available only thrice in a year and can be taken only as the paper-based test. The scores of this test are often required for doctoral programs in the US, though some universities require the GRE Subject test scores for Masters-level programs too. T

he eight subjects in which the GRE subject test is presently conducted are: Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, English Literature, Mathematics, Physics and Psychology.

The experimental section of GRE test can be either math section or verbal section. This section can be unreasonably difficult. Hence, if you perform badly on a particular section, you can a chance to recover your performance in the experimental section. So, do not allow a difficult section to depress your performance on the rest of the GRE Test. This section has to be answered in 30 minutes.

Following table will help you to properly analyze the structure of the GRE test:

Section Number of Question Length
Verbal Around 6 sentences completion 30 minutes
  Around 7 Analogies
  Around 8 reading comprehensions
  Around 8 Antonyms
Math/Quantitative Around 14 Quantitative Comparisons 45 minutes
  Around 9 Multiples Choices
  Around 5 Graphs
Writing Present your Perspective on an Issue 75 minutes
  Analyze an Argument
Experimental Verbal or Math 30 Minutes

The total Time Dration of GRE Test is approximately Three hours. However, only two and half hours of the test count toward your score; the experimental section is not scored in your GRE test.

The Verbal section consists of- Analogies, Antonyms, Sentence Completions and Reading comprehension.

Quantitative Test- It comes with an idea to measure our PROBLEM-SOLVING skills, focusing on basic concepts of Algebra, Arithmetic, Geometry and Data Analysis.

GRE revised syllabus has adaptive test to test your skills

The GRE Subject Test-

The GRE Subject test is now divided into following seven major areas of specializations-

All the subject tests mentioned here have the same syllabus of any standard test. Most of the Indian Engineering students with non CSE IT background go for the Mathematics test in general. The GRE Computer Science Subject Test has been discontinued from April 2013.

More than anything else, your admission to graduate school will depend on your scores on the verbal and quantitative sections of the GRE (not the Subject Test).

The GRE Mathematics Test Syllabus-

CALCULUS(50%): Elementary Calculus, Differential and Integral Calculus of one and several variables, Trigonometry(includes calculus based calculations and connections with Coordinate Geometry, Differential Equations.

ALGEBRA(25%):

MISCELLANEOUS(25%):

This section basically consists of Sequence and Series, Functions, Continuity, differentiability and Integrability, Geometry, Complex Variables, Probability and statistics and Numerical Analysis.

The GRE Mathematics Test will have approximately 66 MULTIPLE-CHOICE questions in GRE.

GRE PHYSICS TEST SYLLABUS-

The physics test basically consists all the major aspects of high-school physics-

The GRE Physics Test will have approximately 100 FIVE-CHOICE questions in GRE Exam.

GRE CHEMISTRY TEST SYLLABUS with Maximum allocated marks for each domain-
